…. this self-taught British Ghanaian artist’s work combines African and Western influences that highlight social issues such as race, sexuality and domestic violence. Her technique is somewhat instinctive and the consequence is a body of work, that is free from traditional artistic rules. A scientist at heart, she is obsessive about research, which translates to a constant quest to learn more about her craft. In her current work, Damoah is focused on telling very personal stories of love, pain and the occult by combining text and visual images.
